F3s - FLAVOUR OF THE MONTH

February 2002

As the month of February winds its way down, C Sqn busily prepares the tanks for the upcoming exercise in April.  It is no surprise that maintenance is the priority as the tanks have sat idle for the last little while.

Maintainers and crews continue the grind of long days of the dreaded F3 inspection before making the final preparations for field deployment.  As packs are pulled, faults are recorded and fixed.  Stables routine becomes ever so important as the low bed program will be quickly upon us.

However, spirits are high as the Sqn prepares to hit the hills of Suffield as part of Exercise ROBUST RAM.  A gun-camp will be the first order of business followed by a gunnery competition between the Sqn and an American troop.  The rivalry is deep, as C Sqn will attempt to defend its title as “Champion”.

Following the competition, combat team training will start with the hope that a combat team live –fire will be the culminating point.  But alas that is the future and for the next couple of weeks, maintenance has to be done.  Keep the wrenches turning ….

NO REST FOR THE WICKED….

With MLOC training near its completion, C Sqn makes the final push to get all qualified.  This is no easy feat given that the number of taskings keep growing, preparations  for the field need to be done and that Moreuil Wood is just around the corner.

But no worries; in true Strathcona fashion all will be accomplished.  No rest for the wicked…..
