Eryx is a Short Range Anti-Armour Weapon (Heavy) or SRAAW(H).
It is a portable system including the firing post, the tripod, the Mirabel
thermal imager and the missile tube. It provides the infantry section
and the armoured reconnaissance assault troop with an improved capability
in accuracy and penetration. Fired from the shoulder or using the tripod,
Eryx can defeat all modern static or moving tanks. With its tandem high
explosive warhead, it is effective against bunkers, earth works, and armour
targets even when equipped with explosive reactive armour (ERA). Eryx
can operate in all weather conditions, in normal battlefield smoke and
at night.
Its high flexibility allows it to operate in open ground,
wooded zones or an enclosed space in built-up areas. It can be transported
in most Canadian combat vehicles.

The M2 Carl Gustav is the primary section level anti-tank
recoilless rifle used by Canada's Land Force which employs two kinds of
ammunition for the weapon. The primary round is the High Explosive Anti-Tank
commonly referred to as HEAT. The HEAT round is used to destroy enemy
main battle tanks. The effective range of this round of ammunition is
700 metres. The second round of ammunition employed is the High Explosive
Dual Purpose Round (HEDP). This round was specifically designed to destroy
bunkers and fortified positions. The effective range for this round is
500 metres.
The Carl Gustav can be fired from the standing, kneeling
or prone positions. When fired on flat surfaces the weapon is supported
by a flexible bipod immediately in front of the shoulder piece.

The M72-series LAW is a lightweight, self-contained, antiarmor
weapon consisting of a rocket packed in a launcher. It is man-portable,
may be fired from either shoulder, and is issued as a round of ammunition.
It requires little from the user--only a visual inspection and some operator
maintenance. The launcher, which consists of two tubes, one inside the
other, serves as a watertight packing container for the rocket and houses
a percussion-type firing mechanism that activates the rocket.
The M72-series LAW is issued as a round of ammunition.
It contains a nonadjustable propelling charge and a rocket. Every M72-series
LAW has an integral high-explosive antitank (HEAT) warhead. Although the
M72-series LAW is mainly used as an antiarmor weapon, it may be used with
limited success against secondary targets such as gun emplacements, pillboxes,
buildings, or light vehicles.
