Posted to Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) in 1995 as a Second-Lieutenant, Trevor Cadieu served in a variety of troop leading positions including Assault Troop Leader, Brigade Reconnaissance Troop Leader, and Regimental Reconnaissance Troop Leader. He deployed in 1997 to Bosnia with the Strathcona Battle Group.

After a two-year posting to Vancouver as the Operations Officer of The British Columbia Regiment, Cadieu returned to the Strathcona’s in 2000 as Battle Captain Reconnaissance Squadron. He deployed in that capacity to Afghanistan in 2002 with the 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Battle Group as part of Operation APOLLO. On his return to Canada, he spent a year as Second in Command Headquarters Squadron and a year as Regimental Adjutant.

On promotion to Major in 2004, Cadieu served two years as Executive Assistant to Commander Land Force Western Area. During the period 2006-2008, he commanded A, B and Reconnaissance Squadrons. He commanded a Leopard tank squadron and deployed again to Afghanistan in 2006 with the 1st Battalion The Royal Canadian Regiment Battle Group. He attended Staff College in Toronto after serving one year as Regimental Second in Command.

Trevor Cadieu served most recently as a Section Head with the Directorate of Land Force Development on the Army Staff in Ottawa. He is a graduate of the Canadian Forces College Joint Command and Staff Program, and he has a Masters of Defence Studies and Masters of Arts (War Studies), both from Royal Military College of Canada.

Trevor and his wife, Megan, enjoy travelling and spending time with family and friends. In his spare time, he enjoys jogging and getting out as often as possible on his Harley Davidson Fat Boy.

Lieutenant-Colonel Cadieu assumed command of Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) on May 27th 2010.
