Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians)

Major Chris Bradley joined the Canadian Forces under the Officer Candidate Training Program in 1989 and on commissioning in 1991was posted to the 8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louises) where he served as a tank troop leader within A Squadron in both Germany and, upon repatriation, in CFB Gagetown.

Major Bradley joined Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) in 1996. He deployed with the Regiment to Bosnia as the Administration Officer of B Company in 1997 and again as the Battle Captain and Second in Command of A Squadron in 2000 as part of the 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Battle Group.

Major Bradley’s extra regimental employments have included tours to Winnipeg as the Regular Support Staff Officer to the Fort Garry Horse, Vancouver as G3 Operations of 39 Canadian Brigade Group Headquarters, the Armour School as Second in Command of Headquarters Squadron and Operations Officer as well as to the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Center in Wainwright where he was employed as lead planner for Exercise MAPLE GUARDIAN 0701, G3 and finally Officer Commanding of the Contemporary Operating Environment Forces.

Major Bradley has a Bachelor of Military Arts and Sciences from the Royal Military College and is a graduate of the Canadian Land Force Staff Course and the Transitional Command and Staff Course.

Major Bradley assumed command of Headquarters Squadron, Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) on July 27 2009.

Major Bradley and his wife Margaret have one daughter and three sons. He is an enthusiastic, if not skilled, fisherman and bassist.
