Regimental Colonel
Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians)

Col Rundle was born in Kingston, Ontario in 1959. He attended CMR from 1978-1982, graduating with a baccalaureate in Business Administration.

On completion of armour officer training in 1982, Col Rundle was posted to Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) where he served as a reconnaissance troop leader for two years and a tank troop leader with the RCD in Lahr. In March 1985, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and attended the United States Advanced Armour Officer course in Fort Knox Kentucky, graduating with distinction. In September 1985, he was posted to the Armour School in Gagetown, New Brunswick, as a tactics instructor.

From 1988 to 1991 Col Rundle completed his second tour with his Regiment that included a six-month tour in Cyprus and attendance on the Canadian Land Force Command and Staff College in Kingston, Ontario. During this time he served as Unit Welfare Officer, Battle Captain, 2 IC and Officer Commanding Recce Squadron. In 1991 he was posted to LFAA HQ in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and was employed as G3 Individual Training. On promotion to Major in 1993, he returned to Calgary as the Officer Commanding Headquarters and Recce Squadrons. During this tour he served on a six-month deployment to Bosnia as part of UNPROFOR with the Strathcona battle group.

During 1996 Col Rundle completed the Army Command and Staff College course in Camberley, England. In January 1997 he was posted to the Land Staff assuming responsibility for LFC business planning. In 1998 he received the CDS/DM renewal award for change. Promoted to the rank of LCol in 2000 he attended the University of Ottawa receiving a Masters degree in Business Administration in 2001. Returning to the Land Staff, Col Rundle assumed responsibility as section head of LFC resource management. Col Rundle commanded CFB Petawawa between 2004 and 2007. In 2008 Col Rundle was promoted to present rank and appointed J5 Plans at CEFCOM HQ. In June of 2009 he was appointed CEFCOM Assistant Chief of Staff – Support.
