Warrant Officer (WO) David Jones was born on 17 September 1962 in Kelowna, British Columbia. His childhood years were spent taking advantage of all that the "Four Seasons Playground" had to offer at the time. In January 1979 he joined the British Columbia Dragoons (BCD) as a Recce Crewman and evolved into a "Tanker" through the introduction of the AVGP/Cougar.
WO Jones transferred to the Regular Force in January 1987 and was posted to the Armoured School as a driver, course administration NCM, and radio operator in Camp Petersville.
WO Jones was posted to the Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians) in August 1989 to join Recce Squadron as crew commander. He then moved to B Squadron in April 1991 to work on a familiar platform from the past. In 1994, he deployed with B Squadron to Bosnia on Op Cavalier. Upon return from tour he remained with B Squadron which mounted up on tanks. WO Jones transferred to C Squadron in preparation to deploy back to Bosnia in 1997 on Op Palladium. During the tour in 1997 he was transferred to RHQ and remained there until July 1999.
From July 1999 to September 2002 WO Jones was posted to Western Area Training Center (WATC), Advance Training Company as an instructor. He finished his tour in Wainwright as SQMS for Militia Training Center (MTC).
WO Jones rejoined the Regiment in RHQ as the Intelligence Sergeant until July 2003. He was transferred to B Squadron as a Troop WO until March 2004. WO Jones moved to Recce Squadron as a Troop WO in preparation to go to Afghanistan on Op Athena. Upon return from operations he moved into the Recce Squadron SQMS and held that position until March 2006.
WO Jones was posted to Kelowna, British Columbia June 2006 as the Regular Support Staff (RSS) WO for the (BCD).
WO Jones returned to the Regiment June 2007 to B Squadron as a Troop WO. May 2008 he moved to RHQ as the Ops WO, moved to B Squadron SQMS in November 2008, and Recce Squadron SQMS January 2009. WO Jones was appointed Squadron Sergeant Major (SSM) A Squadron June 2009.
WO Jones is married to Annette Joy (Evoy) Jones from St. Johns Newfoundland and have one son, Sean.
