Major Knockleby joined the Canadian Forces in 1996 after being accepted into the ROTP program in Calgary AB. Upon graduation from Kingston's Royal Military College in 2000, he completed his Basic Engineer Officer Course and was posted to 2 Combat Engineer Regiment in Petawawa, Ontario.
During his first Regimental tour (2001-2004), Major Knockleby was employed as a Troop Commander in both 25 Support Squadron and 24 Fd Sqn. He deployed to Afghanistan as the Operations Officer for 24 Fd Sqn in 2003 and upon redeployment was posted to CFB Petawawa Base Construction Engineers (BCE). At BCE he worked as a Projects Officer while completing the Army Operations Course (AOC). In 2006, he was posted back to 2 CER as the 24 Field Squadron Second in Command. After a year in this position, he was posted to the Joint Task Force Afghanistan Headquarters as the Engineer G3 and was deployed on Operation Athena in 2008. Upon return from theatre in 2009, Maj Knockleby was posted to 1 Combat Engineer Regiment in Edmonton, Alberta and appointed as the Officer Commanding 14 Support Squadron.
Major Knockleby assumed his present position in August 2009 with Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians) as the Engineer Advisor to Task Force Vancouver for Operation Podium in support of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics.
Major Knockleby has a B.Eng in Civil Engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
Major Knockleby is married to Marcia with two kids, Wyatt (3 years old) and Everett (10 months old). He enjoys martial arts, fishing, sports and time with family.
