Master Warrant Officer Bill Crabb was born in Summerside Prince Edward Island. He joined the Prince Edward Island Regiment in July 1981 as a Recce Crewman and subsequently enrolled in the regular force in 1983.
On Completion of Basic training he was posted to the Armoured School as a Strathcona until 1985 when he was transferred to C Sqn RCD in Gagetown. In 1988 he was posted to the 8th Canadian Hussars in Lahr Germany where he served in a Tank Troop for 5 yrs.
As a new Sgt he was posted to LdSH(RC) in 1993 where he was employed as a Troop Sgt, Admin Sgt, and Troop Warrant before taking the RSS job at B Sqn SALH in 1998. He served in the Regiment again from 2000-2004 serving as both a Troop Warrant and SQMS. From 2004-2005 he was employed as the HQ Sqn Ops WO at the Armoured School. Back at the Regiment from 2005 to present he has been SQMS HQ, SSM A, SSM Recce, SSM HQ, and completed the year long French course.
During his career MWO Crabb deployed on 6 overseas missions. In 1986 he deployed to Israel as the Commanding Officer’s Driver with CCUNDOF. He deployed to Bosnia in 1994, 1997, and 2000 once as a Troop Sgt and twice as a Troop Warrant. He deployed to Kandahar in 2002 as part of OP Apollo as the Recce Sqn Ops WO. Most recently in 2007 he deployed back to Kandahar as the Tank Sqn SSM and was subsequently awarded the MSM by the Governor General for his work there.
He and his wife, Elizabeth, have 2 children Emily and Sara.
