25mm Gunner’s Course
3 February 2005

On the 17th of January 2005 the 25mm Gunner’s Course began. With eight enthusiastic students, two new-fangled IG's, MCpl Amos and MCpl Chenier, one extremely comical course WO, Sgt Holmwood and last but not forgotten, our physical trainer, 2Lt Reitman.

The course shot off with no holds barred and we quickly soared into learning the basics of the Coyote, then straight into the meat and potatoes, gunning the Coyote. As much as any armoured soldier dislikes quickies, (we would rather be shooting and putting bullets down range), for our benefit we had them everyday. With all the familiarization of the Coyote into our sponges, we moved onto the simulators. The time came to put all the theory and knowledge to the test....applying it to the Coyote! With half the course completed, we are firing and hitting targets, in anticipation for our PO checks and ranges. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end...on the 18th of February 2005 the theory and simulator training ends. However, we will be back in the learning cycle soon...when we hit the ranges in March!
