Dear Regimental Family,
We are giving all members of the Strathcona Regimental Family an opportunity to be part of history!
The Regiment is looking to procure a new Regimental Belt Buckle that depicts the Regiment’s strong history, traditions, and uniqueness, as well as celebrates the 100th Anniversary of The Battle of Moreuil Wood in 2018.  We are looking to the Regimental Family to submit their designs or ideas to assist us in creating a new belt buckle, which will not only be available for purchase, but will serve as a conversation piece to highlight our upcoming Moreuil Wood 2018 celebrations.
The details are as follows:
Specifics:  The belt buckle will be oval in shape and will measure either 4x5 or 4x6 inches.
Cost:  The intent is for the final cost of the buckle to be between $30.00 and $50.00 retail (cost is dependent on the final size and complexity of design chosen).
Designs: You do not need to be an artist to participate in this contest.  Submissions can be hand drawn, computer generated, or simply a collection of pictures with a write up on how you envision the final project.  Likewise, you can do a combination of both hand drawn and supporting pictures to demonstrate what you are trying to depict.  If you would like a blank template of a blank 4x6 belt buckle, feel free to download and print the PDF file that can be found at this link:
Deadline to Submissions:  Submissions are due no later than 30 September 2016. Submissions can be emailed to or can be mailed to:
PO Box 10500 Station Forces
Edmonton, AB  T5J 4J5
Attention:  Kathy Batty
Please ensure to include a contact phone number or email when submitting via mail.
Selection Process:  Once the designs are received, the Regiment’s leadership will select the four best designs which will be turned over to our professional artist to generate templates.  Once these templates are produced they will be delivered to the Commanding Officer and Regimental Sergeant-Major, who will choose the winning design. It is anticipated that the belt buckles will take 4-6 weeks to produce and should be available to purchase in early 2017.
The winning designer will have the pride of having their design worn by all Strathcona’s and will also receive the first buckle produced for their personal collection.

Please feel free to pass the details of this contest to others within the Regimental Family who may not subscribe to Strathcona Enews, such as those without regular computer access, or serving members on ERE or within your Squadron lines.
