In April, A Squadron deployed with the best tanks the Regiment could muster for 5 weeks of field training as the high readiness tank Squadron for 5 GBMC.
A Squadron has been busy since coming back from Christmas Leave. The Squadron has been occupied with Road to High Readiness preparations in anticipation of Ex REFLEXE RAPIDE and Ex MAPLE RESOLVE later this spring.
n August 2017, I was employed as the Admin NCO for TLAV D&M Serial 0249 being run by my old command team: Lt Dan “Smiley” Dixon and WO Sean “Old Hand” Thompson.
Each year, Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) has the opportunity to provide a 100-troop Honour Guard to parade both at Spruce Meadows, and the Calgary Stampede.
The year was 2016, and A Squadron was deploying to the cold and desolate land of Wainwright (again). The Squadron advance party arrived back in Wainwright to find that the Squadron’s tanks were encased in a cold sheet of ice and snow.
Once again, Prince of Wales (A) Sqn spent its wonderful spring in beautiful Wainwright, Alberta with its Battle Group buddy 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (2VP).
From 22 to 26 February this year, and following a challenging balance of tasks, courses and other requirements, A and HQ Squadrons conducted Exercise STEELE WINTER – a survival exercise designed to offer a good challenge of existing winter skills.
