Major D. Gray
Officer Commanding Recce SquadronMajor Dan Gray enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces as an Armour Officer in 2003 under the ROTP program. After completing a BA in history from UNB Fredericton and the remainder of his phase training, he was posted to Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) in Edmonton, AB in late 2007. Shortly after being posted to the Regiment, he deployed to Afghanistan with the 2e R22R Battle Group on Task Force 1-09 as a Tank Troop Leader within C Squadron. Upon return, he became the Strathcona Mounted Troop Leader for the 2010 ride season. He has been fortunate enough to be employed on Regimental strength as the Recce Squadron Battle Captain, Recce Squadron Second in Command, and Regimental Operations Officer. Additionally, Major Gray deployed to Ukraine on Op UNIFIER with the Regiment in 2017 where he was employed as the Task Force J3. Outside of the Regiment, he has been employed at the Royal Canadian Armour Corps School in Gagetown, NB as an instructor on reconnaissance and tank courses, as well as the G3 Operations for 1 CMBG. Most recently he was the Armoured Observer-Controller Team Leader at CMTC prior to posting back to the Regiment into his current position as OC Recce. When he is not working, Major Gray enjoys spending time outdoors, hunting, hiking, skiing, and hanging out with his son Henry, and dog Otis. |
