Master Warrant Officer J.C. Clarke
Squadron Sergeant Major Recce SquadronWarrant Officer James Clarke, born April 1974 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, transferred from the Primary Reserve to the regular Force in September 1996. He completed his QL3 and PCF training at the Royal Canadian Armour Corp School at CFB Gagetown. Upon completion he was posted to the Regiment in February of 1997 as a crewman in Recce Squadron. During his time in Recce Sqn, WO Clarke filled all crewman roles to include time in Assault Troop, completed four operational deployments (Bosnia, Kosovo, and Afghanistan) and various domestic Operations. On completion of ARCC in 2006, WO Clarke then moved to B Sqn and deployed to Afghanistan, with the first operational tank Sqn deployment since Kosovo, as a part of TF 3-06. WO Clarke remained on tanks and filled a variety of positions in A, B and C Sqn. In July 2009, WO Clarke left the Sabre Squadrons and moved to the Strathcona’s Mounted Troop. In 2010 he became the Ride Master from April 2010 until January 2013. During this time Mounted Troop performed across western Canada and at Spruce Meadows perpetuating the Regiment’s cavalry beginnings. WO Clarke came back to Recce Sqn as the SQMS deploying once again on domestic Operations to fight the floods in Southern Alberta. On completion of his time as the SQMS for the Sqn, he was posted as Reserve Support Staff in Winnipeg, Manitoba from August 2013 until June 2017. In 2017 WO Clarke returned to Edmonton and LdSH(RC) where he was employed as the SQMS A Sqn for high readiness training. On completion of HR training, WO Clarke moved to HQ Sqn to assume the role of Regimental Transport WO from June 2018 to June 2019. Most recently, WO Clarke deployed to Ukraine as a part of JTF-U as the J3 Ops MWO for the 1 CER lead battle group. On return to Canada from deployment, WO Clarke came back home to Recce Sqn and was appointed SSM Recce in June 2020. WO Clarke has been happily married to Michelle, his supporting and understanding wife of 10 years, and they are the proud owners of Max the dog. |
