Captain C. Smith
AdjutantCaptain Smith was born and raised in Toronto, ON where he lived until attending University in Ottawa. He graduated with a Bachelors of Arts (Economics) from Carleton University, living and working in the city from 2001 to 2008. He enrolled in 2009 as a Direct Entry Officer and completed Phase IV Armour in August of 2011. On his first regimental tour with Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) [LdSH(RC)], he served as Troop Leader of 2 Troop, B Squadron and subsequently as the Administrative Officer of Headquarters Squadron. Posted to 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group, he served penance in the G3 cell in the roles of G3 Equipment, CBRN, and ISTAR Ops/Plans. Upon his return to the regiment in 2017 he served as Battle Captain and 2nd in Command of Reconnaissance Squadron before completing the Army Operations Course. Following this course he honed his skills as Plans Officer for the LdSH(RC) Battlegroup during Road to High Readiness training. Capt Smith has deployed abroad on Operation IMPACT to Erbil, Iraq, where he was embedded as a Battle Captain in the Coalition Joint Operations Centre – Erbil under the 101st (US) Airborne and 1st (US) Infantry Divisions. Domestically he has responded to floods in Alberta on Operation LENTUS 13-01 as a Troop Leader, and fires in British Columbia with Operation LENTUS 17-04 as a Squadron 2nd in Command. He currently resides in Edmonton with his wife Philippine, daughter Delphine, and two cats that irritate (Aston) and delight (Martin). Outside the military his interests include sailing, skiing, and scuba-diving. |
