Strathcona Mounted Troop Warrant Officer
WO Talty joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2010 with the South Alberta Light Horse, a Primary Reserve armoured unit, in Southern Alberta. There he completed his Basic Training, Armoured Dp1, PLQ and ACC. He joined the Regular Force in 2013 and was posted to Recce Sqn Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians). WO Talty remained with Recce Sqn until 2016 when he was posted to Esc A 12 Regiment Blinde du Canada as a Crew Commander on language exchange.
In 2019 he deployed on Op Reassurance with the 12 RBC Battle Group as an Ambulance Commander with the 2 Vandoo Infantry Company. After the deployment, WO Talty was posted back to the Strathcona’s as a Troop Sgt in A Sqn. In 2022, after serving as a Troop Sgt for 3 years, he was moved up to the position as the Regimental Training WO. During his time as the Training WO, he completed his ATW course in CFB Gagetown. Shortly following his return from his course, he was moved to B Sqn as a Troop WO in the fall of 2022. There he served in this position until Jan of 2024 when he moved to be the Regimental Recce Tp WO. In the fall of 2024, he was moved to Strathcona’s Mounted Troop where he currently resides.
