Master Warrant Officer R.T. Vigar
Squadron Sergeant Major A SquadronMaster Warrant Officer Ryan Vigar joined the Primary Reserve in 1999 as an Armoured Crewman with the 1St Hussars (1H). He deployed to Bosnia as a Rifleman with D Coy 2VP in 2003. After completing his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2007 he transferred to the Regular Force and was immediately posted to the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians). In 2008, he deployed as a loader with A Sqn as a part of TF 3-08 operating out of Forward Operating Base (FOB) Ma’Sum Ghar in Panjwai District. Upon completion of tour he was placed into Recce Sqn where he participated in Op PODIUM providing security assistance in the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver and Whistler, BC. Following the completion of his Armoured Reconnaissance Crew Commander Course in 2010, he joined the Strathcona’s Cambrian Patrol Team as the Second in Command where the team earned a Silver Medal in the 2011 Patrol Concentration in Wales. In 2012 he completed his Close Quarter Combat Instructor Course and in 2013 he deployed as a part of Op LENTUS to the floods in southern Alberta. In 2016, he was posted to 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron as the Operation Warrant Officer and Master Door Gunner and was deployed to Erbil, Iraq in 2017 as a part of Op IMPACT. In 2019 he returned to the Regiment as the Squadron Quarter Master Sergeant for B Sqn and participated in Op LENTUS in Merritt, BC during the fire season before attending Second Language Training (SLT) in Edmonton during the 2019-2020 year. Following SLT he was posted to the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre (CMTC) as an Observer/Controller/Trainer (OCT) and then subsequently promoted to MWO in 2021 and posted to A Coy 3rd Canadian Division Training Centre as a Company Sergeant Major. MWO Vigar currently resides in Wainwright, Alberta with his wife Jilian, an MSE Op currently posted to 3 CDSB Wainwright. They have two awesome children, Ava and Henry. |
