Master Warrant Officer B.N. MurphySquadron Sergeant Major A SquadronMaster Warrant Officer Bryson Murphy joined the primary reserve in May 2004 as an Armoured Non-Commissioned Member as a part of the South Alberta Light Horse in Edmonton, AB. In Feb 2006, he occupied a position with the Canadian Maneuver Training Centre where he spent the following 2 years with the Opposing Forces (OPFOR) assisting in training soldiers for deployment to Afghanistan. In Mar 2008, MWO Murphy began training with Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) as a Leopard Tank Driver with C Sqn on the road to high readiness and subsequent deployment to Afghanistan on Op ATHENA TF 1-09. In Feb 2010, MWO Murphy transferred to the Regular Force officially becoming a member of the LdSH(RC). Over the following 6 years, MWO Murphy was employed in A, B, & C Squadrons in a variety of roles to include Troop Leader’s Loader, Tank Crew Commander, Squadron Quartermaster 2IC, and Squadron Operation’s Sergeant. In 2011, he deployed on Op LENTUS to Portage la Prairie in support of the Manitoba floods and again in 2013 to Canmore, AB in support of the Southern Alberta floods. In Jul 2016, MWO Murphy was posted to the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps School (RCACS) as an instructor. He spent the next 3 years at the Armoured School mentoring Officers and Non-Commissioned Members on armoured tactics to include gunnery, crew commanding, and troop leading. He finished his time at the RCACS as a Course WO prior to being posted back to Edmonton, AB in 2019. In 2019, MWO Murphy was posted to Transition Centre Edmonton as the Sergeant Major where he spent 2 years assisting CAF members with their rehabilitation and transition, whether it be back to their units, other trades within the CAF, or out into civilian life. In 2021, MWO Murphy was posted back to the Regiment as B Squadron Quartermaster Sergeant (SQMS) shortly after becoming the Squadron Sergeant Major. After a busy fall spent on exercise, the Regiment was again called to assist on domestic operations. In Dec 2021, MWO Murphy deployed for a third time on Op LENTUS, this time to Kelowna, BC, in support of the BC floods. In 2022, MWO Murphy deployed on OP IMPACT to Jordan as a CQMS Mentor to the Jordanian Armed Forces. Upon his return to Canada, he occupied the position of HQ Sqn SQMS for a short time prior to being appointed as A Sqn Sergeant Major in May 2023. MWO Murphy currently resides in Morinville, AB with his wife Meghan, a registered massage therapist. They have three highly active children, Alice, Rowen, and Ryker. |
