Senior Serving Strathcona
On commissioning in 1995, Trevor Cadieu was posted to Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) in Western Canada, where he has served alongside many 3rd Canadian Division Regular and Reserve Force units, in both operations and training.
While at the Strathcona’s, he led armoured reconnaissance and tank squadrons before commanding the Regiment during the period 2010-2012. He was subsequently privileged to command 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group through high readiness training and two domestic operations to assist Canadians threatened by flood and fire conditions in the 2014-2016 timeframe.
In addition to deploying to Bosnia in 1997 with the Strathcona Battle Group, he served in Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2002 as Battle Captain Reconnaissance Squadron. He returned to Kandahar in 2006-2007 as a Leopard tank squadron commander as part of the 1st Battalion The Royal Canadian Regiment Battle Group. Most recently, he served for one year as Commander Task Force Jerusalem – Canada’s commitment to Palestinian Security Sector Reform as part of the Middle East Peace Process – while concurrently activating Task Force Middle East in Amman, Jordan.
Brigadier-General Trevor Cadieu assumed command of 3rd Canadian Division/Joint Task Force West on 29 June 2017.
