Major R.R. LeeOfficer Commanding A SquadronBorn and raised in Stettler, Alberta, Major Ryan Lee enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Direct Entry Officer in the fall of 2009. Following the completion of Armour Officer Phase training in 2011 he subsequently joined Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) late that summer. Shortly after arriving at the Regiment he immediately returned to CFB Gagetown to complete his Tank Troop Leader course before returning to B Squadron as the newly minted C/S 23 in December 2011. Major Lee was fortunate to participate in several large-scale exercises as a Troop Leader, including Combat Team Commander’s Course in early 2012 and Ex MAPLE RESOLVE/REFLEXE RAPIDE with 5 Brigade later that fall. Following his time as a Troop Leader, Major Lee deployed as part of Op ATTENTION to Afghanistan in 2013 where he inadvertently became a NATO mentor to the Afghan Ground Forces Command G33. Major Lee returned to the Regiment in early 2017 to deploy again as the Liaison Officer to the Polish General Command in Warsaw, Poland as a part of the Op REASSURANCE Land Task Force. Following the deployment, he became the Battle Captain in B Squadron and subsequently the Second-in-Command of B Squadron in 2018. Finishing out his second tour at the Regiment, Major Lee was the Regimental Operations Officer before being deployed as the LdSH(RC) Battle Group S3 Operations on Op REASSURANCE in Latvia early in 2020. Major Lee returned to the Regiment in early 2022 to deploy as the Task Force J3 on Op IMPACT in Kuwait. Upon return from tour Major Lee assumed command of A Squadron. Outside of the Regiment, Major Lee has been employed at 3rd Canadian Division HQ, 3rd Canadian Division Support Group, and most recently in Wainwright at the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre as the Armoured Observer Controller Trainer Team Leader. Major Lee holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Alberta. He currently resides in downtown Edmonton and he enjoys fast driving, golf, and back-country trekking in his off time. |
