All Ranks Dinner and Dance 2019
By: Lieutenant C. MacLean, HQ Sqn
Mid-March was a busy time for the Regiment, as soldiers were preparing for deployment to Wainwright for Exercises ORNERY RAM and MAPLE RESOLVE, while also ensuring they, their kit, and their lines were ready for the annual Moreuil Wood commemoration which took place from 19 to 21 March. With many things that still required attention before the temporary freedom of March Break, the Regiment took the evening of the 15th to relax, recharge, and prepare for the challenges ahead.
As is tradition, the All Ranks Dinner and Dance took place at Schanks Sports Bar, which provided an excellent venue for a night of food, drinks, and games. Corporals Edward Thibodeau and Coleman Germann hosted and DJ’ed, while Captain Leland Kirkham kept a dutiful watch over the door and game prizes. While many soldiers went home with a gift bag or gift card, Warrant Officer Nathan Mills’ wife, Mrs. Kimberley Mills, was particularly lucky, scoring two prizes, including a CO-authorized day off. No word yet on whether she has been able to redeem it at her work.
Corporal Quinton Stender took home what many saw as the biggest prize of the night, scoring two tickets to watch the Oilers lose another game during March Break. As an additional perk, all serving members of the Regiment in attendance were treated to a complimentary travel mug, with a screw lid and attached carabiner, perfect for clipping to the side of your vehicle and giving away your position in the field. According to all in attendance, it was a great night out with the Regimental Family.
