Once again with the deployment of B Squadron with Task Force Afghanistan in the fall, the Family Support Troop of Canada’s busiest Regiment is heavily involved with the welfare of the families. This time however, another deployment is looming and as the Regiment is preparing for Operation PODIUM in support of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, the Troop is preparing for the support to their families.
This fall, the Troop changed personnel with the departure of experienced personnel like Cpl Curtis Davis and Tpr Wood. This was followed by Sgt Eric Petersen reporting into the Troop. This same period also continued to be an active one with many functions such as the monthly Pizza and movie nights, the Pumpkin Patch outing with the Military Family Resource Centre in the October and the trip to the West Edmonton Mall Water Park in November. Fun was had by all who attended. These activities were a big success because of the families who attended.
We continue to prepare for the very busy period of January and February during which the Regiment will see deployments across North America as well as Afghanistan. We are planning two outings to Galaxyland and the Royal Alberta Museum. We forward to seeing all of you in the New Year. Happy Holidays to all.
Perseverance.
