Message from the Chairman

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Strathcona’s Association Edmonton Branch, let me welcome you to another year of special events, social gatherings and a chance at meeting old friends and colleagues of present and the past.As you know or may know, we are at the door step of becoming the new Committee for the Alberta Branch in the coming year 2013. We will be taking the reins from Calgary whose membership, leadership and enthusiasm have done an outstanding job supporting the Regimental family.The time we spend with our fellow Regimental family members, brings us closer.  It is always great hearing the old stories, spending quality time together, enjoying a pleasant meal, a few drinks, knowing that there is always some one out there for you.  The best thing about when we meet is for social interaction, forgetting ranks and just being fellow Armoured Soldiers in one of the finest regiments in the world.  Remember once a Strathcona always a Strathcona.

To make things easier and in a more comfortable setting so we can socialize and enjoy the surrounding atmosphere, we are looking at holding our monthly meetings at the new Kingsway Legion which will be located off of Manning Freeway and 50th St.  It is totally brand new and could be a wonderful venue for us to meet.  The meetings will go back to a more reasonable Thursday evening. Please see the attached schedule of events.

What we will be looking at doing for the initial start up of the New Year is to select a committee for the upcoming Reunion in 2015  It may seem a bit away but as well all know time does fly fast and when looking at possible venues, the sooner the better.

We are looking forward to another fine year of spending time with friends of past , present, future, social events and brining the Regimental family closer.  I believe that for this organisation to move forward we now need to fill up our vacant committee positions with new blood. The crew in place has done a fantastic job.

So please pass on to your colleagues, friends, fellow Strats, that we have an Association that is here for them and that it would be awesome for them to come and par – take in our evenings out.  Come out and see your old friends.  Forget the rough past and look towards a relaxed comfortable future with your fellow tankers.
